Second AGEP Webinar

The webinar was held in English and streamed live from the alumni seminar at University Leipzig to the AGEP-Network Group on the Alumniportal Deutschland. 140 students and alumni from the AGEP network (Dresden, Berlin, Bochum and Leipzig) gathered. Around 60 students and alumni joined the webinar virtually.

The goal of this webinar session was to get a deeper understanding of the role businesses and business-membership-organizations have within the political context. Many questions arise from the reflection about the extent and the positive and negative effects of the influence of private players in different levels of the political institutions.

The webinar session was opened by Prof. Dr. Utz Dornberger who is the Director of the International SEPT Program (SME Promotion and Training) from the Leipzig University. Two speakers followed and enriched the discussion with their interesting presentations. The first, held by Professor Asche, was related to economic policies regarding the role of entrepreneurs and firms. Subsequently, Oliver Griffith talked about "Interplay of the private and the public sector: Obstacles and option". He is currently at the International Finance Corporation of the World Bank Group as head of communications, Europe. Before taking that position, he worked as a diplomat at several United States Embassies, where he provided the Embassies with strategic business insights.

A recording of the webinar session as well as presentations and detailed profiles of the speakers can be found in the AGEP Network Group on the Alumniportal Deutschland. Join the group - We are looking forward to your questions and comments.
